3 Ways to Structure & Create a PROFITABLE Group Coaching Program
Have you been thinking about launching a high-level group coaching program, but you're not exactly sure how or where to start? Stick around until the end of this post, and you'll walk away with three proven group coaching models so you know *exactly* how to structure a group coaching program. You’ll learn exactly how to select the perfect model for YOUR business, so that you can launch your very own profitable group coaching program.
Since implementing these models into my own online empire, I have not only doubled my annual earnings, but I have also cut my workload in half (yes half!). And now, I want to show you how you can do the same!
If you’re new here, welcome. I’m Molly Ann Luna, a life and business success strategist who helps coaches, consultants, and corporate escapees kick the nine-to-five to the curb, leverage their expertise and create an online high-level group coaching program. I then help you scale your impact and income by turning your coaching program into a book, allowing you to create an evergreen money-generating machine that gives you total lifestyle and financial freedom.
Why not stick with 1-1 coaching?
You might be thinking to yourself, “There’s no need to focus on launching a group coaching program now. I just need to fill up my 1-1 roster!”.
I know the feeling. I LOVE working 1-1 with clients in an intimate setting. When I first started in my coaching business, I worked solely with clients in a private coaching capacity.
But here’s the thing: there are only so many hours in a day, and there is only so much money a person will pay you in exchange for your product or service. There’s no way around it - eventually, you WILL hit a ceiling, and if you want to do avoid doing so, you MUST figure out a scaleable way for how to structure your group coaching program.
After I maxed out my private coaching client roster, I hit total physical and mental burnout. I didn't have smart systems and processes in place, and so because of this, my business burned down with me.
Because I WAS the business.
The truth is, you either have a business or you are the business. And when you're working just solely with clients 1-1, you’re it, friend.
If you're ready to step up your business game and create a scalable business that allows for infinite time AND financial freedom, your next best step is to start your high-level group coaching program.
So without further ado, let’s dive into the three proven group coaching models: the cohort model, the program model, and the membership model. After reading about these models, you’ll understand exactly how to structure a group coaching program for ultimate profit.
The Cohort Model
First up, we have the cohort model. In this model, you start all the participants off with the same kickoff date, and you walk them through your entire program step-by-step live, in real-time.
This is a fantastic option for beginners looking to pivot away from the 1-1 model. The Cohort Model helps you develop a solid signature digital course, that you could later convert into an evergreen sales funnel that will help you make sales in your sleep!
Let’s say you’re a personal trainer, and it’s the New Year. Most of your ideal clients will be setting New Year’s resolutions, hoping to get in shape and lose weight.
You could launch a program that focuses on getting healthy after the holiday season, and name it something like “Dump the Post Holiday Slump”. You would set a start date, promote it in advance, and get people signed up and registered. You’d then close the doors and start teaching your program to everyone who registered, walking them through the transformation step-by-step.
The Cohort model is such an incredible structure for beginners, because there’s almost no startup capital required, little to no tech know-how, and you don't even need to have the program fully created. In fact, it's called a cohort program, because you’ll actually be co-creating it with your paid clients and customers.
If you're just starting and don't have much cash flow in your business, this is the smartest model for you. Say you set your price at $1000 and bring in $10k from your live launch. You now have ten thousand dollars to reinvest into building out your smart systems and refining your program, perhaps to make it evergreen.
This is the model that I teach my Income Amplifiers to use to launch their high-level group coaching program. How incredible would it be to get PAID to co-create your coaching program with your ideal clients and customers?
The last thing you want to do is pour your heart and soul, your blood, sweat, tears, and money into creating a robust program that you think will sell, only to take it to market and hear crickets.
It is important to mention that the cohort model is only right for you if you are willing to teach in real-time. You need to be ready to jump on a Zoom call or conference line with your clients and speak to them directly in that live space.
Sounds like something you’d love to do? Perfect. The cohort model is for you!
The Program Model
Next up, we have the program model.
After you've launched your cohort model, you’ll hopefully have ended up with proof that it is indeed profitable. You’ll have client testimonials gushing over how amazing the transformation was, and client feedback to know how you can improve the program even MORE.
At this point, you’re ready to begin creating pre-recorded lessons. They can come in the form of videos, slide decks, audio recordings, or however else you’d like to deliver them.
With the program model, you can sell the program model and give your clients instant access to that pre-recorded content. Your clients then get to move through the content at their own pace. If you so choose, you could then show up on a weekly or monthly basis to provide live support, answer any questions, and make sure your clients are getting the most value possible out of your program.
If your program is still relatively new, having a live component is a great way to communicate with your clients, and get feedback on how to improve the program for your next launch.
The program model is what I use for my signature program, The Income Amplifier. When you register for the program, you get instant access to my teachings. You can binge-watch the entire course if you want, or you can take it week by week. Choose whatever pace you like!
You also get access to a live face-to-face call, where I address any questions or concerns you have about launching your very first group program. On these calls, I even teach clients how to turn their coaching program into a book, and set up their evergreen money-generating machine by establishing their sales funnels to bring in that next launch of clients.
The program model is a fantastic option, but only if you’ve already had proven success with your beta launch and you've now got some cash flow underneath you to keep that program going. Your past experience with running your online course is crucial when deciding how to structure a group coaching program.
If you're ready to get serious about building your online empire so you can scale and skyrocket your coaching business, then I want to invite you to apply for the Income Amplifier Program.

The Membership Model
The third and final option is the membership model. This is the PERFECT option for those of you who already have a proven program, you've sold it a couple of times, and now...you're ready to automate it.
If you've decided to go with the cohort or program model, you can offer further support to your clients after they have completed their initial transformations by starting a monthly membership coaching opportunity.
This is what I do with my Income Amplifiers. For me, I love getting to marry the membership model with the program model. Once you have graduated as IA students you are then invited into my Online Business Clinic Champions Circle. This is a monthly membership program where we meet face-to-face and strategize how you can continue to scale your business on an even higher level.
I like to add this to the backend of my marketing sales funnel because it provides next-level value for my clients. After all, when someone has bought from you, it's SO much easier to sell them on another product than chasing after a new customer. Customer retention is another factor to consider when deciding how to structure a group coaching program.
This business model has proven to be extremely profitable, because you can run it for a fairly low cost, allowing you to scale it quickly. You can choose to either do pre-recorded content that gets released monthly, you can serve your clients on a deeper level with additional calls, or you can do a combination of the two...whatever feels right to you!
If you can follow a step by step proven plan (such as my Income Amplifier!) and you can set up your systems and processes to run automatically year-round, then it might be time for you to consider adding a membership program to your marketing sales funnel.
How To Structure A Group Coaching Program Is Based on Which Model is Right for You
Now that you know more about the three models, think about which one resonates with you most.
Each of these models is proven, and when they’re set up properly, each one can be very profitable for your online group coaching program. All it takes is having a step-by-step blueprint that you can follow to get your high-level group coaching program created and launched.
If you think you’re ready to take the next step and find out what that blueprint looks like, I invite you to join me in my upcoming Masterclass training, called Pivot Into Online Profits.
