Has your business come to a screeching halt? Are you tired of feeling burnt out and unfilled? If so, then maybe it’s time for a tune-up.
In 2023, I'm shaking things up and shifting my business plan.
I want to create a business plan that brings value to my clients in a way that's meaningful to them and sustainable for me as a SAHM homeschooling entrepreneurial mom.
I first started my business pre-babies. And yes, a business plan is not a stone tablet that you must lawfully follow, but rather a fluid document that’s meant to be used like a car's GPS.
Somewhere along the way, I lost sight of my bigger business goal. Freedom.
Like many entrepreneurs, the allure of going into business for yourself is that you can free up your time and set your own wages.
But when your business begins to feel like a set of shackles, it's time to make a change.
If you’ve been grinding your way through business, it might be time to consider making a shift.
Instead of constantly chasing after monetary gain, what if we focused on skill stacking and building our expertise in our specific field of interest?
Not only will this bring value to your customers, but it can also be incredibly fulfilling and rewarding for you as a business owner.
So, what does this look like in practice?
First, take some time to research and identify the skills that are in demand in your industry or related fields. Maybe there's a new technology or approach that you could master, or maybe you want to delve deeper into a subject that you're already passionate about.
As a Content Creator, I recognize that I need to skill up in storytelling, videography, and editing. I’m also deeply interested in how the mind works and in teaching others how we can practically apply the psychology of success to our businesses as leaders.
Next, develop a plan to acquire or improve upon these skills. This could involve taking courses, seeking mentorship or coaching, or simply practicing and gaining hands-on experience.
In recent years past, I’ve spent much of my focus on marketing, sales, and customer delivery experience. All important things no doubt.
This year I want to focus on making deeper connections through the power of video storytelling. I plan to take online courses, push myself to produce better content, and host a mastermind of content creators who are ready to skill up together.
Next, consider how you can use your new skills to create value for your customers. This could involve offering new products or services, or simply being able to have more in-depth and engaging conversations with your clients.
And don't forget to communicate your new focus to your customers and potential clients! Make sure to highlight the value you can bring through your skills and conversations, and how this can benefit them.
In the book I’m currently reading for the third time (YouTube Formula) Derral Eves, shares a story about a client of his who has 100 subscribers and he encourages this creator to join a mastermind group.
The creator believes that because his channel is so small no one will want to mastermind.
Derral suggests three Creators he knows. One with 1,000 subs, the other with 5,000 subs, and the third with 15,000 subs.
The 1,000 and 5,000 sub Creators eagerly agree to meet each week to brainstorm ideas.
The 15K Creator thinks he’s too far ahead and doesn’t see the value in this collab so he bows out of the offer.
In a matter of a few short months, the mastermind group of Creators
This is why I’m planning to lead a mastermind group for driven content creators who are ready to skill up.

Finally, make sure to track your progress and continue to learn and refine your skills.
In the recent past, I would track my success based on my quarterly or annual income report.
This year, since my main focus is skill stacking as a content creator, I’ll be basing my ‘success’ on CTR, Avg. view duration, and the number of comments and likes I receive from my videos.

Remember, the journey to skilling up is a lifelong journey, and sometimes a challenging one, but when done together skill stacking rewards can be tremendous.
So, if you're ready to break free from the cycle of chasing after monetary gain and create a business that truly brings you freedom and fulfillment, consider shifting your focus to skill stacking.
It might just be the change you need to take your business to the next level and experience smooth cruise’n.
